If you work on a computer most of the day, you need to read this…

Did you know? Most of us spend at least 10 hours a day on digital screens.

Preventing Digital Eyestrain

But all that screen time can be hard on our eyes. Research shows that only 2 hours in front of digital screens is enough to cause eyestrain. Our increasing dependence on electronic devices could be causing eyestrain and long-term retinal damage to our eyes.

What is eyestrain?

If you experience tired or irritated eyes, blurred vision, headaches or even neck and shoulder pain after using digital devices, you may be suffering from digital eyestrain.

So, what is it with digital screens that is causing our eyes to work extra hard?

Small text, pixelated images and multiple screens, force our eyes to work harder in order to focus. Digital devices expose our eyes to increased amounts of blue-violet light which can cause loss of contrast, can disrupt sleeping patterns and potentially increase the risk of age-related macular degeneration.

Most common problems caused by excessive digital device use:

  • Dry eyes - the most frequent symptom reported

  • Eyestrain

  • Headaches

Other common symptoms are:

  • Stinging/tired or itchy eyes

  • Discomfort caused by the glare of the screen

  • A progressive difficulty in looking at a device or back to distance

Digital screen protection lenses (such as Eyezen Lenses) are designed to relax and protect your eyes from digital screens, all day long. By using these lenses, you can reduce the risk of premature eye ageing and help in preventing digital eyestrain.
